Description
Handcrafted in Yamagata Prefecture by Tobisho (Tobizuka Shears Works), the Left-Handed SR-1 Pruning Secateurs 200mm Vinyl Grip brings the signature lightweight balance and ergonomics of Tobisho’s famous SR-1 series to left-handed arborists, orchardists, and discerning horticulturists.
Unlike standard right-handed tools used in the left hand, this model features a true left-handed mirror-image construction. The primary cutting blade, counter-blade, and pivot assembly are completely reversed. This gives left-handed operators an unobstructed line-of-sight directly along the cut line while providing natural hand squeezing leverage that pulls the blades together for surgical cut accuracy.
The handle design combines a raised ergonomic palm-rest contour with a durable non-slip vinyl coating. The raised upper handle cradles the palm to prevent forward slippage during heavy cuts, while the vinyl grip offers a comfortable, cushioned hold that stays secure in wet conditions and insulates the hand against cold weather. Forged from premium Japanese Special High-Carbon Cutlery Steel, it incorporates Tobisho’s precision 3D concave hollow grinding (Urasuki) and crossover geometry (Hinari) for an effortless, sap-resistant bite.
Key Features & Craftsmanship:
True Left-Handed Mirror Design: Built with fully reversed blades and joint hardware, providing left-handed users clear line-of-sight visibility and optimal squeezing leverage.
SR-1 Ergonomic Vinyl Grips: Non-slip, cushioned vinyl handle dip provides exceptional grip security, reduces palm fatigue, and protects hands from cold steel during winter pruning.
Raised Palm-Rest Profile: Curved upper handle ridge prevents forward slipping during high-force cuts and reduces hand strain over long field operations.
Master Yamagata Forging: Hand-forged by Tobisho using centuries-old Japanese blacksmithing techniques for superior structural strength and refined tool balance.
Special Carbon Cutlery Steel: Premium Japanese special cutlery steel delivers razor sharpness, long edge holding (Nagagire), and easy whetstone resharpening.
3D Curved Urasuki & Hinari Alignment: Precision concave back grinding reduces friction and sap adhesion, while precise crossover alignment ensures clean cuts that promote plant healing.
Traditional Bottom Lock: Finished with a classic handle latch for safe and reliable storage.
