Handcrafted in Yamagata Prefecture by Tobisho (Tobizuka Shears Works), the SR-1 200mm Kurouchi (Model 421) is a specialized professional bypass pruning shear featuring an authentic rustic black forged scale finish (Kurouchi). Rooted in the rich heritage of traditional Yamagata blacksmithing (Yamagata Uchihamono), this model is favored by arborists, landscapers, and orchardists for its exceptional cutting torque, rustic beauty, and practical field performance.

Unlike standard polished shears, the handles of the Kurouchi edition retain the dark iron-oxide scale layer formed during high-temperature forging (~800°C). This natural textured surface provides an enhanced non-slip grip—even when working with wet hands or gloves—while offering superior natural rust resistance and a stunning, aged aesthetic that develops character over time.

Built on Tobisho's flagship full-steel forging technology with high-grade Japanese high-carbon cutlery steel (approx. 1% carbon content), this tool delivers incredible hardness, long-lasting edge retention (Nagagire), and a surprisingly light, balanced feel.
