Description

Handcrafted in Yamagata Prefecture by Tobisho (Tobizuka Shears Works), the B-Type 180mm (Model 1224) pruning secateur is a classic Japanese bypass shear engineered for maximum leverage and fatigue-free cutting. Masterfully hand-forged from high-grade Japanese high-carbon cutlery steel, this tool utilizes full-steel forging to deliver impressive structural toughness, excellent edge retention, and dependable shearing power.

Featuring a compact 180mm overall length and a 56mm blade measured from the bolt center, the B-Type geometry is specifically designed to transfer hand force efficiently all the way to the tip of the blade, making every cut feel smooth and effortless. The cutting blade incorporates Tobisho's signature 3D curved Urasuki (hollow ground back) and tuned crossover alignment (Hinari), which minimizes steel-to-steel friction, prevents sap buildup, and ensures razor-sharp performance. Complete with a traditional brass bottom handle latch (Kana-dome), this compact B-Type model is an outstanding choice for orchardists, gardeners, and bonsai enthusiasts working with fruit trees and general landscaping.
