Description

Handcrafted by Tobisho (Tobizuka Shears Works) in Yamagata Prefecture, the Hirei 165mm compact pruning secateurs (Model 679) were specifically developed to meet the demands of orchard growers needing a highly maneuverable tool for tough, dense wood. Masterfully hand-forged from high-grade Japanese carbon cutlery steel and subjected to a precise 800°C oxygen-free quenching and tempering process, these shears deliver outstanding hardness, edge retention, and structural toughness.

Measuring 165mm with a lightweight 195g–200g frame, the Hirei fits naturally into the palm, acting as an effortless extension of your fingertips. Its signature feature is the specialized Asari (set bl) alignment applied to both the main cutting blade and counter blade. This unique geometry maintains structural edge strength while drastically reducing contact friction, allowing you to slice through thin, hard, and wire-like branches—such as peach, fruit trees, or roses—with incredible ease and clean precision. Complete with an 8x14 bolt assembly and a classic leather bottom handle strap lock (Kawa-dome), the Hirei is a heavy-duty, high-precision compact workhorse.
