Handcrafted in Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture—the historic heartland of traditional Yamagata blacksmithing—by Tobisho (Tobizuka Seisakusho), the Double-Edged Bud Trimming Scissors 200mm with Vinyl Grips  is a master-grade professional shear engineered specifically for delicate pine pruning (Metsumi), candle selection, and precise bud thinning inside dense branch networks.

Forged using Yamagata's distinctive low-temperature forging technique, the high-grade carbon steel is repeatedly hand-hammered to remove impurities and create a dense, structurally tenacious steel matrix. Tobisho employs a legendary traditional lead-bath heat treatment (Namari-bus)—heating the blades in molten lead at approximately 800°C in an oxygen-free state—to achieve optimal hardness, extreme edge retention, and structural toughness without oxidation or decarburization, completely avoiding modern high-frequency induction hardening.

Featuring a 200mm overall length with an extended 76mm slender blade, this model reaches deep into crowded foliage. The double-edged (Ryoba) geometry is ground into a clamshell convex edge (Hamaguri-ba), significantly reducing friction as the blade glides through green shoots. Paired with 3D hollow back-grinding (Urasuki) and master crossover alignment (Hinari), the blades meet at a precise moving point to prevent bark tearing.
