Description

Handcrafted in Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture—the historic heartland of traditional Yamagata blacksmithing—by Tobisho (Tobizuka Seisakusho), the Authentic Left-Handed Double-Edged Bud Trimming Scissors 200mm is a master-grade professional shear engineered specifically for left-handed arborists, landscapers, and bonsai specialists.

Unlike converted tools, Model 599 is built from the ground up with a fully reversed left-handed blade and handle orientation. This allows left-handed professionals to naturally apply pressure using their thumb and palm to push the cutting edges together, ensuring clean cuts, maximum leverage, and zero bark tearing during delicate pine pruning (Metsumi), candle pinching, and foliage thinning.

Forged using Yamagata's traditional forging techniques and high-carbon cutlery steel, Tobisho shears are celebrated worldwide for their exceptionally smooth blade crossover (Suri-awase) and razor-sharp cutting feel. Featuring an extended 205mm frame with a 76mm slender blade reach, it accesses deep into crowded branch networks. The blades feature hand-adjusted 3D hollow back-grinding (Urasuki) to prevent sap buildup and precise crossover alignment (Hinari) for an ultra-smooth, fluid bite and long-lasting edge retention.

Note: Designed strictly for fine bud thinning and delicate green shoot management. Due to its ultra-sharp double-edged geometry, it is not intended for pruning thick or hardwood branches.

Key Features & Craftsmanship:

True Left-Handed Configuration: Fully reversed blade crossover and handle assembly designed specifically for left-handed ergonomics, ensuring perfect blade contact and effortless cuts.

Extended Reach & High Leverage: 205mm overall length with a 76mm slender blade reach allows seamless access deep into dense branch structures and high pine canopies.

Specialized for Fine Pine Pruning (Metsumi): Slender tip geometry provides surgical control for candle selection, needle plucking, and fine bud thinning in crowded trees.

Double-Edged (Ryoba) Precision: Balanced double-bevel edges slice cleanly from both sides to protect tender plant tissue from pinching or bruising.

Tobisho Yamagata Hand-Forged Heritage: Handcrafted by Tobisho, legendary for exceptional blade alignment, ergonomic balance, and commercial-grade durability.

Master Urasuki & Hinari Alignment: Concave inner blade geometry minimizes sap buildup and cutting friction, paired with precision crossover tuning for a smooth, fluid bite.

High-Carbon Cutlery Steel: Formulated for superior hardness, edge retention, and easy maintenance on traditional whetstones.
