Description

Handcrafted in Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture—the prestigious realm of traditional Yamagata blacksmithing—by Nomuraya Shears Works, the Murahisa Double-Edged Bud Trimming Scissors 180mm with Leather Catch is a highly prized, professional-grade Japanese shear designed for fine bud thinning, foliage shaping, and precise pruning. Nomuraya holds an honored place in Japanese cutlery history, having been inspected by Emperor Showa during his post-war national tour, and its hand-forged tools are so exceptionally rare that backorders often take years to fulfill.

Featuring a double-edged (Ryoba) blade geometry, This Model delivers balanced, surgical precision. The twin bevels slice cleanly from both sides of the blade without crushing or bruising delicate plant tissue, making it ideal for intricate Metsumi (bud picking), pine candling, and fine green shoot management in bonsai and orchard work.

Forged using traditional flame forging (Hizukuri) and premium high-carbon cutlery steel, each pair is meticulously hand-hammered and finished by master blacksmiths. It incorporates traditional 3D hollow back-grinding (Urasuki) to prevent sap adhesion and precise crossover alignment (Hinari) for a light, fluid cutting bite. Fitted with an authentic, durable traditional leather loop lock (Kawa-dome) at the handle base, this tool represents the perfect harmony of functional beauty and practical Japanese heritage.

Key Features & Craftsmanship:

Double-Edged (Ryoba) Geometry: Balanced double-bevel edges deliver crisp, surgical cuts without pinching or crushing delicate buds and tender foliage.

Yamagata Hand-Forged Heritage: Handcrafted by Nomuraya Shears Works, a historic blacksmith honored by Emperor Showa's official visit, renowned for producing rare, heirloom-quality shears.

Precision Bud Thinning & Shaping: Compact 180mm frame with a 58mm blade reach provides optimal agility and tip control for delicate hand operations.

Master Urasuki & Hinari Alignment: Concave inner blade geometry reduces sap buildup and cutting friction, paired with expert crossover tuning for a smooth, fluid bite.

High-Carbon Cutlery Steel: Outstanding razor-sharp edge retention (Nagagire) that responds exceptionally well to maintenance on traditional whetstones.

Traditional Leather Loop Lock (Kawa-dome): Features a classic leather closure loop at the handle base for secure storage and timeless aesthetic appeal.
