Description

Forged in Miki, Japan, by master sawmakers at Hishika Industry (established in 1947), the "Tomokichi Master" 360mm Hand-Forged Temagari-Noko (curved forestry pull saw) is the largest and most powerful forestry saw in the Hishika lineup. Engineered specifically for heavy-duty timber harvesting, land clearing, and large-diameter log cutting, this long-blade saw effortlessly powers through massive green trunks and thick limbs that stall standard tools.

Designed with a Graduated Tooth Pitch Geometry, the teeth are finely spaced near the handle for smooth, accurate stroke initiation, gradually transitioning to larger, aggressive teeth toward the tip. This unique progression allows the user to start cuts with precision before utilizing the expansive 360mm stroke to rapidly remove large timber volume with minimal effort.

To eliminate binding inside deep cuts, the blade features Hishika’s signature Back-Tapered Thin Blade Geometry (Sen-Togi). Precision-ground so the spine is thinner than the cutting edge, kerf drag and friction are drastically reduced when slicing deep into large logs. Each high-carbon steel blade is individually hand-tempered to maximum professional hardness, delivering exceptional razor sharpness and long-lasting edge bite.

The handle is traditionally crafted from lightweight Paulownia wood (Kiri) to optimize tool balance and minimize arm fatigue over extended field use. It is tightly wrapped in Natural Rattan (Tou-maki), providing a secure, non-slip grip even when working in wet conditions or wearing heavy work gloves. Made from high-grade Japanese tool steel, this blade is fully resharpenable (Metate) for decades of continuous trade service.

Includes a protective nylon storage sheath for transport.

Note for Users: Hand-tempered to maximum professional hardness, this high-carbon steel blade is a fine, precision cutting instrument. Apply force exclusively on the straight PULL stroke without twisting, levering, or forcing the blade inside deep kerfs.

Key Features & Performance:

360mm Maximum Forestry Reach: The longest blade in the series, engineered for maximum stroke leverage and rapid cutting of heavy logs and large-diameter timber.

Graduated Tooth Pitch Geometry: Finer teeth at the base ensure easy cut starting, while aggressive teeth toward the tip maximize timber removal per stroke.

Paulownia Wood & Rattan-Wrapped Handle: Extremely lightweight Paulownia core wrapped in natural non-slip rattan for maximum control, moisture absorption, and reduced arm fatigue.

Full-Hardness Hand-Tempering: Individually heat-treated by Miki master blacksmiths for supreme sharpness and edge retention.

Back-Tapered Thin Blade Geometry (Sen-Togi): Tapered blade spine prevents binding and kerf friction inside deep, large-log cuts.

Resharpenable Blade (Metate Compatible): High-carbon tool steel can be traditionally hand-filed and resharpened for decades of trade use.
