Description
Forged in Miki—Japan’s historic center of master sawmaking—by Hishika Industry (established in 1947), the Noko-House 210mm Folding Pruning Saw represents the authentic craftsmanship of traditional Japanese toolmaking. Unlike mass-produced impulse-hardened saws, each Hishika blade is individually hand-shaped, hand-tempered, and fine-tuned by master blacksmiths using time-honored techniques.
The hallmark of Hishika’s quality is its full-blade traditional heat treatment. Master smiths visually inspect and temper the high-carbon steel plate, imparting remarkable steel elasticity, "bite," and an exceptionally smooth stroke. The Noko-House series features a slightly moderated temper compared to Hishika's flagship line, providing a versatile balance between professional sharpness and practical durability for field use. Built with a Back-Tapered Thin Blade Geometry, the blade spine is ground thinner than the tooth edge, drastically reducing friction inside the cut so the saw glides effortlessly without binding.
The precision edge produces smooth, surgical cross-sections that preserve tree health by minimizing cell damage and accelerating natural wound healing. Equipped with a reliable safety locking mechanism and built from high-grade tool steel, this saw is fully resharpenable (Metate), making it a long-term tool investment for professional arborists, orchardists, and discerning landscapers.
Note for Users: Hand-tempered high-carbon steel blades are fine, precision cutting tools. Apply pressure exclusively on the PULL stroke, letting the blade's geometry do the work without forcing or twisting the blade.
Key Features & Craftsmanship:
Traditional Hand-Forged Construction: Handcrafted by Miki blacksmiths using manual full-blade heat treatment and precision tempering.
Extended 210mm Reach: Longer blade length offers faster stroke efficiency for medium-sized branch pruning.
Back-Tapered Thin Blade Geometry: Tapered blade spine reduces friction in the kerf for light, effort-free pulling action.
Surgical Cut Quality: Leaves clean, smooth cuts that protect fruit trees and ornamentals from rot and infection.
Resharpenable Blade (Metate Ready): High-carbon steel can be traditionally hand-filed and resharpened for decades of service.
Folding Frame with Safety Lock: Secure stopper mechanism ensures safe transport and steady operation in the field.
