Forged in Miki—Japan’s historic heartland of traditional sawmaking—by Hishika Industry (established in 1947), the Noko-House 180mm Folding Pruning Saw delivers authentic Japanese blacksmith craftsmanship in a compact, highly maneuverable size. Designed for precision pruning in tight foliage and detailed branch work, each blade is individually hand-shaped, hand-tempered, and ground by skilled artisans using time-honored techniques.
Unlike mass-produced saws with localized edge hardening, Hishika subjects the entire high-carbon steel plate to traditional manual heat treatment. This grants the steel unique elasticity, immediate tooth bite, and an exceptionally smooth stroke. The Noko-House series features a slightly moderated temper compared to Hishika's flagship line, striking an ideal balance between professional sharpness and practical durability for everyday work. Built with a Back-Tapered Thin Blade Geometry, the blade spine is ground thinner than the tooth edge to minimize friction in the cut, allowing the saw to glide effortlessly without binding.
The hand-forged edge leaves smooth, surgical-clean cross-sections that protect fruit trees and ornamentals from rot and infection. Featuring a robust safety locking mechanism, this compact tool is fully resharpenable (Metate), making it a durable, long-term investment for arborists, orchard managers, and serious gardeners.
Note for Users: Hand-tempered high-carbon steel blades are fine, precision cutting tools. Apply pressure exclusively on the PULL stroke, letting the blade's geometry do the work without forcing or twisting.
