Description

Crafted under the original Hasamiya Ichiban brand, these specialized, traditional masterwork shears are engineered specifically for trimming, shaping, and finishing thatched roofs (Kayabuki Roofs) as well as heavy-duty landscaping operations. Completely hand-forged from scratch by skilled Japanese blacksmiths, they feature a distinctive upward-curved blade (Sori-Ba) designed to follow roof contours seamlessly and slice through tough reed, miscanthus, and thick greenery without snagging.

Forged using premium Yasugi Kishi (Yellow Paper Steel), these 225mm heavy-duty blades deliver a clean, decisive bite with minimal arm strain, while allowing for easy sharpening and long-term edge maintenance. The blades feature a traditional hollow ground back (Urasuki) combined with Twist Blade alignment to minimize friction and prevent sap buildup. Paired with a 420mm Japanese white oak handle (total length 735mm, weight 1,400g), this robust build provides exceptional handling balance, powerful leverage, and historical Japanese forging excellence for professional thatch crafts, master landscapers, and arborists.

Key Features & Performance:

Specialized Curved Blade (Sori-Ba): Upward curve profile allows smooth, continuous trimming along thatched roof contours and thick foliage without snagging.

Master Hand-Forged Construction: Completely forged from scratch by skilled Japanese craftsmen for ultimate durability and precision structural balance.

Yasugi Yellow Paper Steel: Delivers an exceptionally sharp bite, smooth cutting efficiency, and ease of resharpening in the field.

Urasuki & Twist Blade Alignment: Traditional hollow-ground back and precision blade twist reduce surface contact, preventing blade binding and sap buildup.

Japanese White Oak Handle (420mm): High-density oak handle provides superior strength, vibration dampening, and excellent maneuvering leverage.
