Description

Handcrafted by Azumagawa Horticultural Shear Works in Ono, Hyogo Prefecture—a historic center renowned for fine Japanese cutlery—these innovative 220mm hybrid heavy-branch pruning secateurs (Model 1003) are uniquely engineered to maximize cutting torque within a compact, ergonomic profile. Precision-forged from high-grade special steel, this model undergoes Azumagawa’s proprietary "Maru-Yakiire" full-quenching heat treatment, delivering exceptional edge sharpness, high impact toughness, and outstanding structural rigidity.

Featuring an ingenious hybrid design, it pairs a large 230mm anvil counter-blade with an 200mm cutting blade. This unique geometry allows a compact, mid-sized frame to achieve the heavy-branch shearing capacity of a full-scale 230mm tool while maintaining the comfortable handle span and dexterity of a standard 200mm secateur. Weighing just 265g with an overall length of 215mm, it enables arborists, orchardists, and landscapers to slice smoothly through thick, hardwood branches without overextending their grip or inducing hand fatigue. Complete with an authentic Hollow Ground Back (Urasuki) and hand-adjusted Hinari alignment for smooth, sap-resistant performance.
