Description

Handcrafted in Ono City, Hyogo Prefecture—the heartland of 250-year-old Banshu blacksmithing traditions—by Azumagawa Shears Works (est. 1898), the Double-Edged Bud Trimming Scissors 180mm is a light, high-precision Japanese shear designed for fine branch trimming, bud thinning, and delicate garden maintenance.

Forged through an intense 50-step in-house manufacturing process, each pair is hand-hammered from premium high-carbon cutlery steel and undergoes Azumagawa's signature full-body thermal heat treatment (Maruyaki). The double-edged (Ryoba) blade geometry provides versatile, razor-sharp cutting power, allowing horticulturists and arborists to make crisp, effortless cuts without crushing delicate plant stems.

Every pair is meticulously hand-adjusted for exact 3D hollow back-grinding (Urasuki) and master crossover alignment (Hinari). This ensures a whisper-quiet, silky-smooth blade glide that reduces sap buildup and delivers unmatched cutting performance.

Key Features & Craftsmanship:

Double-Edged (Ryoba) Geometry: Precision double-bevel blades deliver balanced, surgical cutting control for delicate bud thinning, foliage shaping, and harvesting.

Banshu Hand-Forged Heritage: Handcrafted by Azumagawa (est. 1898) using 120+ years of blacksmithing expertise across a 50-step complete in-house forging process.

Whole-Blade Hardening (Maruyaki): Heat-treated through the entire body of the steel for supreme blade strength, edge holding, and impact resistance.

Master Urasuki & Hinari Alignment: Concave inner blade grinding minimizes friction and sap adhesion, paired with hand-tuned crossover geometry for smooth, fluid cutting action.

High-Carbon Cutlery Steel: Delivers outstanding razor-sharp edge retention (Nagagire) and effortless maintenance on traditional whetstones.
