The razor-sharp upper blade presses against a smooth zinc die-cast base anvil. Because the cutting blade is forged significantly thinner than standard bypass blades, cut friction is drastically reduced, allowing users to slice through stubborn, dense limbs with up to 30% less physical exertion.

The upper cutting blade is forged from High-Carbon Japanese Tool Steel and coated with a slick fluorine resin finish to prevent tree sap (Yani) adhesion and corrosion.
