Description

Crafted by the legendary Abukumagawa Soka blacksmith line in Yamagata Prefecture—a historic workshop rooted in swordsmithing heritage—model No. 1117 is a versatile 270mm single-handed hedge shear featuring a specialized single-edged (Kataba) blade geometry.

Unlike standard double-edged models, one side of the blade functions as a bypass-style anvil receiving jaw, providing exceptional strength and increased leverage to cut through thicker branches with ease—especially when utilizing the heel of the blade near the bolt. Hand-forged by master craftsmen using high-hardness carbon special steel, it offers flawless blade crossover, outstanding durability, and supreme cutting smoothness, making it a highly practical tool for both fine foliage trimming and heavier branch clearing.
